Introducing Emergency Medical Services Fellowship Director Troy Pennington, D.O., M.S., who received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona in 2000. Dr. Pennington did a rotating internship at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center after graduation and completed his residency at University of California, Los Angeles program at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, where he also served as Chief Resident of Emergency Medicine. He finished the residency in 2004 and joined ARMC later that year as a faculty member of the first Osteopathic Emergency Medicine Residency in California. Dr. Pennington has since become an integral part of the
ARMC team and is now an emergency room physician who is double board-certified in Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services.
As a teenager, Dr. Pennington worked as a volunteer firefighter in a small town in Texas where he drove his first fire truck at the age of fifteen. His family soon moved to Illinois, where he joined the Naperville Fire Department. He then completed paramedic training at Good Samaritan Hospital and received a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration from Southern Illinois University. After moving to California, Dr. Pennington worked as a paramedic while earning a Master of Science in Health Professions Education from WesternU.
At ARMC, Dr. Pennington serves as the Emergency Medical Services Fellowship Director, which is in its third year at the hospital. Outside of ARMC, Dr. Pennington serves as Medical Director for the San Bernardino County Fire Department, Mercy Air Region 2 – Southern California, and the Baker to Vegas Law Enforcement Relay Race. His hobbies include boating, fishing, SCUBA diving and kayaking - anything on the water. He also enjoys spending time with his family, listening to live music, camping, hiking, and working on his ranch.
