Following an extensive career in higher education, Dickson has held Registry appointments as the interim provost and executive vice president for academic affairs for the University of Toledo.and interim vice president for academic affairs for Palo Alto University.

During her career, Dickson served in a variety of leadership roles, including as vice president for academic planning and policy at the University of Hawai‘i. She is no stranger to Southern California, having also held several leadership roles during her 24-year tenure at California State University, San Bernadino, including associate provost, executive assistant to the president, and associate dean of the College of Arts and Letters. She is an American Council on Education Fellow, and her research has focused on student recruitment and retention, fundraising, and tuition-based budgeting.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Dickson back to the region and look forward to her extensive expertise in creating shared governance and strategic academic structures, developing program review and prioritization, and supporting academic research, scholarship, and grant projects, especially in institutions that serve first-generation students and underserved communities,” said University of La Verne President Pardis Mahdavi, PhD.

The Office of the Provost oversees key areas of the university, including academic affairs, student affairs, the library, online programs, regional campuses, campus health and safety, athletics, housing, institutional research, and the office of the registrar. The former provost resigned last year. The university is currently holding listening sessions to help inform a nationwide search. Recruitment is expected to run through the spring with an appointment made by early June.

Dr. Victor Carmona-Galindo, is an Associate Professor in Biology who has a Ph. D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, from the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville

Fayetteville, Arkansas and a B.S. in Chemistry, with minors in Biochemistry and Philosophy Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He did a Postdoctoral Fellow Biology Department at Occidental College. Dr. Carmona-Galindo's recognition as a scholar has included being a Fulbright Scholar at the Escuela de Biología, Universidad de El Salvador in San Salvador in 2012-1203, a Fulbright Flex Scholar in the Centro de Investigación y Desarrollo en Salud [CENSALUD], Universidad de El Salvador, 2016-2018, and being a Fulbright Multicountry Specialist, 2021- present. Dr. Carmona is clearly an expert in this filed and is a well- published scholar.

Since joining the University of La Verne in 2022, Dr. Carmona has been a leader in best practices, student success and student-centered learning approaches. He has found dynamic ways to incorporate technology, innovation, and student engagement in all his courses. Dr. Carmona readily seeks to provoke students' intellectual curiosity while also ensuring they are ready to compete in the marketplace and be responsible global citizens. He has been recognized for his tremendous efforts in the classroom and use of technology such as VR to foster a robust learning environment.

Dr. Mathews is the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (The College) at the University of La Verne. She is a graduate of nearby Ganesha High School in Pomona, CA.; and a product of the Pomona Unified School District having been a student from Head Start through high school. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Pomona College and went on to earn her Master of Arts in Medical Anthropology and PhD in Gerontology from the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

Dr. Mathews has over 20 years of experience in higher education and leadership. She joined the University of La Verne family in January 2021. She has lead efforts in The College toward program and curricular review with a keen understanding of the need to embed technology, innovative approaches, and best practices. As the largest college on campus, Dr. Mathews provides oversight for some of the institutional efforts and initiatives related to Cybersecurity, AI, virtual and digital learning being lead in the College of Arts and Sciences.

With a great passion for cybersecurity, he started his cybersecurity career in the financial industry and worked himself up to become the Chief Information Security Officer at, SecLex, a Cybersecurity company. Alex is driven to help organizations keep their enterprises running secure and efficiently all while strategically helping clients maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Allowing our business partners to focus on their business rather than worrying about downtime, vulnerabilities, and cyber-incidents, simply giving them a piece of mind.

Suriel Arellano is an author, speaker, leadership trainer, and executive coach that has dedicated the last 20 years in helping leaders innovate processes, culture, and customer experiences through the power of digital transformation and leadership. He helps organizations understand how digital technologies drive business success by applying best practices in the areas of leadership development, digital transformation, digital marketing, and business strategy.

His expertise is complemented by in-depth industry relationships cultivated over a career spent with top-tier firms, including Fortune 100 companies such as IBM and HP. He strongly believes the role of digital technology is in shaping and empowering humanity.

Suriel earned his Bachelor of Science in Leadership and Management from New York University. He also holds a certification from MIT in Artificial Intelligence Leadership and a Business Management certification from Harvard Business School to help facilitate the integration of Digital Technologies in high-performing organizations.

As a DISC Independent Consultant in behavioral analysis, he also provides proven methods for navigating organizational structure and resolving systemic culture challenges to help build teams and create healthy communication across organizations.

In 2022, he joined the Maxwell Leadership Certified Team as an independent Certified Leadership Development Coach, Speaker, and Trainer.

Dr. Gong is an Associate Professor of Information Technology. She received her PhD in Management Information Systems from the University of Calgary in 2015. She also earned a PhD in Management Science from Huazhong University of Science & Technology in 2008.
